CABINET MINISTER*’ DEFEAT. DISTRIBUTION OE PORTFOLIOS. Cousequent upon the resignations ol the four defeated Ministers* which weiv accepted 'bv tlic Governor-General on .Monday Past, the Prime Minister announced that His Excellency has been pleased to make the following appoint ments in connection with the vacant portfolios:— The Prime Minister, the Et. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Mines and Minister of Agriculture. The Hon. W. D. Stewart, AttorneyGeneral, Minister of Justice, and Minister of Defence. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Industries and Commerce. The Hon. E. A. Wright, Minister of Labour. The Hon. Iv. S. Williams, Ministei of Lands and Commissioner of Stale Forests. In regard to the other Departments which were administered by the defeated Ministers, the Hon. W. D. .Stewart will have charge of the Police, Prisons, Electoral and War Pensions Departments; the Hon. E. A. M right, the Printing and Stationery and Pensions Departments; and the Hon. Iv. S. Williams the Valuation, Land for Settlements, Dischargcdd Soldiers’ Settlement, and the Scenery Preservation Departments.
