Mrs. A. T. Christensen hiis returned to Tilton from a health recruiting visit to Rotorua. Miss J. Ferret t, Whenuakura, is on a visit to Auckland. At best life is I>i! t slunt. Is is worth while, then, to hate each other.’ A pretty business girl, about to i;;arrv. and desiring to have slimmer ankles, consulted a doctor, who recommended surgical treatment. A surgeon declared a successful operation was feasible, consisting of the removal of a narrow strip of flesh oil the cult. The anaesthetic failed ami the girl was fnllv -conscious during the operation on the other leg. The foot began to blacken, and doctors advised that amputation was essential to save her Jii'6. Her fiance was hurriedly called, and they underwent the marriage ceremony at the bedside. Then the leg was amputated. The girl recovered and is now suing the surgeon for £-Rino compensation.
