“THE ESCAPE. ' ' TO-NIGHT. ATrginia A r alli in “The Escape,” Eox Films production directed by Hicham Rosson, will be shown in conjunction with the usual dance on Wednesday. In the supporting cast arc AVilliam Bussell, Nancy Drexel, George Meeker, and AVilliam Demurest. “The Escape,” scenarised by Paul Schofield, is a modern adaptation of Paul Armstrong’s great stage hit and offers Miss Valli some of the finest moments of her screen career. New with its teeming tenements and its glittering night clubs, has been used by Kossou in thoroughly modernising Armstrong’s magnificent play. In this colourful background Miss A T aIIi appears first as a lowly girl of “The Kettle,” and, later, as the vivacious hostess of the Blue Moon, a. gilded club owned and operated by Jerry Magee, as portrayed by AVilliam. Bussell. Gripping action and intense drama have been adroitly combined by Eosson in dovetailing the story as brought to the screen by Paul Schofield.. There arc innumerable “little moments,” those vital touches which go far toward making a great picture, and virtually every player- in the east has been made to stand out in unforgettable characterisations.

Cohen. Kate Price, the peer of her type, is featured as Airs. Kelly. The entire cast is of stellar quality, Gertrude Astor, Sue Oprol, ami Charles Delaney being among the other principals. The Cohens and Kellys, grown rich in business partnership, love each other, but they love to battle each other too. When pretty Sayde Cohen announces her engagement to young Pat Kelly in Paris, their fathers are right in the middle of their feuds, and both are determined to stop the marriage of their only child to the offspring of a dirty loafer, so they take the same boat to Paris to stop the wedding. The things that happen to Messrs. Cohen and Kelly in Paris! Ladies and gentlemen, dunt cslc!
