SEAMEN ATTACK POLICE

INCIDENT LYTTELTON. A serious light took place in a hotei at Lyttelton between a muniber of fireinen and police. The en counter was a i'luiou.s one. The police were cornered ar.d had to use handcnir.s on the heads of their opponents. This kept them at bay until reinforcements arrived. One man was arrested, but the others escaped. They are well known, however, as seamen regularly visiting the port.
