When landing on the outskirts of Napier the machine struck a rat "or swampy patch. The pilot endeavoured, to rise again to recover and the machine left the ground safely, but two wires of a ’fence caught the under-carriage and threw the head of the machine to-, wards the ground, with the result that both blades of the propeller were snapped, the under-carriage was badly damaged, and one wing slightly affected.
