SCARLET FEVER EPIDEMIC

OUTBREAK IN N. CANTERBURY. The scarlet fever epidemic in North Canterbury has exceeded the normal time of epidemics of this nature, and the medical officer of health has found it necessary to issue the (following notice: —“Seventy-live per cent, of tho cases reported arc children under fourteen. Roughly, twice as many caaCs have occurred in the age-period five to ten as in the age-period ten to fifteen. The majority of all cases have occurred in the metropolitan area } and it is -proposed to exclude from schools in this area all children in the infant classes and standard one. All kindergartens arc also to be closed.”
