PATEA SCHOOL COMMITTEE

UK-DIM ARY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the L'atea Bchool Committee was ncld on Friday, Mr. 0. Fairweathcr presiding. Messrs. Pauling, Nelson, Moore, Marshall, Carey; ami Matthews (headmaster) were also present. The minutes of the previous ■ meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence wns read from the Education Beard re subsidy and from Mr. C. Btevens rc the,, work he had done. The letters wore received.

On the motion of Mr. Nelson, seconded by Mr. I’auling, it was decided to obtain a price for all work required to be done in the school grounds in future.

It was decided on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Carey, that tnc secretary apply for all subsidy obtainable at the present time. Mr. Carey reported on behalf of the visiting committee that a visit had been paid to the school by the committee, who were impressed with the extreme cleanliness of the building. The, committee strongly recommend that additional asphalting be done in the school playground. A leak in the cloakroom required immediate atteu--1 tion.

The report was a’dopted, and it was decided that the secretary attend to the repairs to the roof of the cloakroom forthwith.

On the motion of Air. Marshall, seconded by Air. Nelson, it was decided that the matter of procuring shingle for repairs to the school yard bo left in Air. Aloorc’s hands.

The question of a supply of firewood was considered at length, and it was finally decided on the motion of Air. --Nelson, seconded by Air. Marshall, that a cord of ti-trec be procured in foot lengths. Messrs. Carey and Nelson were reappointed a visiting committee for the mouth.

The headmaster reported that the windows in the school hall allowed the rain to drive through. It was decided to acquaint the board of the position. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
