BOY SCOUTS
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of tin. Boy Scouts was held on Monday, Mr. Matthews presiding. Mrs. W. White and Messrs. G. Fraser, K. Christiansen, Wainwright, Pauling, Clark, Tulloch, and Hemingway were also present.
' Messrs. Clark and Wainwright iwcrc appointed to represent the Scouts on the Domain Board Bazaar Committee.
The resignation ox Mr. Whittington as scoutmaster was received and 'accepted with regret, and Mr. Clark was unanimously appointed to fill the vacancy. ’ .
It was decided to place on record the appreciation of the committee of Mr. Wnittinton’gs work. It was also decided that members of the committee pay 5s per annum and honorary members 2s Gd per annum, ami that a campaign ibe instituted for hon-
orary members. On the motion of Mr. Wainwright it was resolved that two members of the
committee visit the Scouts ’ parade.-, each month, Messrs. Fraser and the secretary to be the committee' for the present month. Mr. Pauling reported that since the last meeting of the committee thenhad been 15 parades, with a good attendance at each. Good progress had been made with signalling and first aid and cooking work. Two treks were also held during the month. Mr. Clark has the trek cart in hand, and with tiie aid of a couple of wheels and , axle kindly donated by Mr. D. Foots, it should be completed shortly. Mr. W. McConiisky has also generously donated the paint for the icart., The thanks of the troop arc due to these gentlemen and also to the local Convent 'School and Fire brigade ffiv use of forms for the Navy League lecture and to Mr. Lapps for the use of a tent fly and the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild for cups and saucers. Special thanks are also duo to Mesdames Clark, -Paul--9 iug, and Tait, who kindly assisted with the 'supper at the lecture. Messrs. Clark, Wainwright, and Pauling have offered a prize to the Scout who brings along the largest number of recruits by November 1. , The report was adopted. Mr. Wainwright brought forward the question of transport for the boys should they visit Hawcra in the near future. Mr. Clark said two caf-owucrs Had promised to*take some-of the boys and he had no doubt others would follow their example. It was decided tac annual'meeting ■ be held prior to the next meeting of the committee. Before the meeting terminated the chairman said since the last meeting of the committee their cubmaster had joined the ranks of the Benedicts and le; desired on behalr of the committee * to tender Mr. Christiansen their hearty congratulations, and their best wishes for his future welfare and happiness. The meeting then terminated.
