PATEA SCHOOL COMMITTEE

“ UlipiXABY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Patea School Committee was held on Tuesday, Mr. E. C. Wood presiding. There were also present:—Messrs. Fairweather, Finlay, /(secretary), Dunlop, and Scott. Apologies were received from Messrs. Carey and Moore for nonattendance.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

With regard to |h£ Elcxtrolux idcanor Mr. Wood said;,-—'-t the representatives of the Company had called and put the machine in order, and they said. that the company was out to sec that all machines ;were working satisfactorily, and if at any time the machine went out of order they wished to be -apprised of the fact. The machine was now working beautifully.

Mr. Wood also said that Arbor Day had been celebrated, and a number of plants and shrubs had been planted. With regard to the. reflooring of the assembly hall with wood, a letter had been received from the Education Board that the architect would see about it and report to the board at its next meeting.

With regard to the gravel on the playground Mr. Wood said he had made arrangements to the gravel spread better, and he thought the committee should make an effort to have the playground tarred in the summer. It was reported that an entertainment was to be put on in aid of the school funds.

It was decided to forward a letter of sympathy to Mr, Moore, who had been laid aside for the .past fortnight. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Eairwmthcr for the good work he had done in the school grounds. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
