ELECTRIC WELDING

AN ENTERPRISING FIRM.

Messrs. McCarty and Hunger, with thnir customary enterprise, have lately .added to their plant tin up-to-date electric welding plant, which is capable of carrying through all kinds of welding work. Its chief advantage, perhaps, lies in the fact that it is capable of carrying out work that was previously done by moans of bolts and rivets. The vaaie of the process can be understood when the two processes arc viewed side by side. In the case of .a large iron vat, for example, the old-fashioned riveted style, with the heads of the rivets projected on the sides, appears quite clumsy alongside the neat cloc-olectrically-welded article, with the surface smooth and level. In addition to the heavier work the electric welding system is particularly suitable for welding small articles, suck as slashers, hedge clippers, etc. That the system ig both efficient and strong was' demonstrated by .a piece of iron that had been electrically welded and then bent double and hammered on an anvil, with the result that the welding was unbreaking, the .parent metal alone showing signs of withstanding the strain. The firm arc to be congratulated on the enterprise shown, which indicates still further progress for the town and district.
