THE PATEA DOMAIN
RECENT IMPROVEMENTS. Local residents should make a special point or visiting' their Domain and seeing for themselves the large amount of work that lias recently been carried out by the Domain Board. Paths that have been hidden, by .overhanging hedges have been reformed and every hedge trimmed, giving the Domain a
very attractive appearance. There now remains the painting of the memorial gates, the ’wooden rail around the playing area, and the sheet, all of which, will be taken in hand when funds permit. It is the intention of the board to. plant a number of flowering shrubs, including rhododendrons, azaleas, flowering- currants, camelias, etc., to render the Domain additionally -attractive in .the years to come. The main trouble in the past has been lack of funds, and in order to remedy this state of affairs the board, we understand, intends holding a ball shortly, which the public will be asked to support to the full extent of their powers. The town has an asset of inestimable value in its Domain, which should not be allowed to go back through lack of funds.
