The death took place at Wanganui on -Saturday of Air. E. R. Jackson, one of the best known anti most highly respected settlers in the district. The deceased, who was. horn in Wanganui, was the son of the late Air. Freeman R. Jackson, who founded the linn of Freeman R. Jackson and Co., some t)0 years ago, and was well known in the Pate a and Waver ley districts, having spent some years at Cawood, Whcnuakura, and -afterwards at his farm, Rosemount, Waverloy. Air. Jackson always took a keen and lively interest in sport, and was for a long.time an active official of the Waverley-Wailotara Racing Club. About IS months ago he visited the Homeland, and on his return had been in indifferent health. He is survived by a widow' and two daughters and one son, (hose being Airs. Foster-Fra 11 (Palm'e'rslon), Airs. Jack (Dunedin), and Air. D. Jackson (Wavcrloy). The funeral took place yesterday, a. large number attending from all parts of the district to pay their last tribute of the memory of the deceased.
