WELL-KNOWN HAWEEA RESIDENT. A well-known resilient of Hawcrn, In llie person of Mr. Edward Godfrey, •was found dead in bed short ly after Jive p ’eloek on Thursday (says tho “Star'’). Dr. 13uist was called, and stated that death had taken place some hours previously. Deceased was a stock buyer and farmer, lc’ years of age. married, and residing with his wife and family in Rata, street. Mr. Godfrey, who catfic to Taranaki front Wanganui some years ago, was wellknown through .South’Taranaki in the meat and slock trade. Eor many years he was in business as a batcher rjk Mamiia, and was latterly engaged a stock buyer in the Ilawera and sur- '■ rounding districts. The sympathy of a wide circle of acquaintances will be extended to his bereaved relatives. '
