WAVERLEY R.S.A.
ANNUAL DANCE
The Returned Soldiers’ Association’s annual dance was held on Friday, and proved to be one of the most successful dances hold in Waverley for some time, visitors being present from Hawera, Stratford, Patea and Wanganui. The floor was crowded with dancers, a good many of whom were in fancy dress, including the following: —Mrs C. E. Johnston, representing the Miniature Rifle Club, who won the prize for the most original fancy dress; Mrs S. Brewer (Chinese Lantern), Miss Marzeforc (Egyptian), Mrs Shipton (Query), Miss Scorringe (Periodical), Miss G. Adlam (Night), Miss Bradley (Good Luck), Mrs F. Johnston (Eastern), Mrs H.. Higinbotham (Chrysanthemum), Miss M. Shipton (Good Luck), Mr D. Nicholls (Dame), Mr Davidson (Bo’sun’s Mate). The stage, which was tastefully decorated with ferns and palms, was converted into a lounge for non-|dancers. The supper tables ..were decorated with spring flowers, and, as usual, groaned under a load of good things provided by the ladies, who spared no pains nor expense to make the dance one to be remembered.
The music was in the capable hands of Moosman’s orchestra, and encores were the order of the evening. Messrs G. Gould, F. Kingsford, O. E. Johnston and F. Blcunerhassett ably carried out the duties of M.C.’s. The proceeds of the dance were in aid of the Memorial Fund, which will benefit to the extent of about £3O.
