POPPY DAY.

SATURDAY, APRIL 22nd. A reminder is given of Poppy Day which is being observed in Patea tomorrow (Saturday) when a stall will bo held by the ladies’ committee in Egmont Street for the sale of poppies, vegetables and produce of every description on behalf of the soldiers who are out of employment. The poppies will be sold for wearing on Anzac Day, April 25th, when the memorial bo the men in this district who fell in the Great War will be unveiled. Anyone willing to donate produce of any description to be sold on Saturday at the Poppy Day stall is requested to leave same either with Mr P. Locker, Mr j. J. or at the ‘ ‘ Press ’ ’ office. It is hoped that the effort of the public on behalf of the soldiers will bo such as to show the outside world that the people in this district appreciate to the full the sacrifices that have been made.
