THE LATE BISHOP PATTESON
;—@ A A INTERESTING LECTURE The Rev. H. Wilson will deliver a lecture illustrated with lantern slides on Monday night in St. George’s Sunday School Room on the life and work of the late Bishop Patteson first Bishop of Mclanisia. A collection will be taken up at the close of the lecture in aid of the Melaucsiam Mission funds. As can be imagined the finances of ithc Mission have lately been subjected to a severe strain owing to the high prices of stores of every description since the war. in addition the authorities have had to fa (re a great loss owing to the Influenza epidemic of last year and on top of all these there has been the cost of extensive rpairs to the Mission Steamer, .■southern Gross. The ordinary funds of the Mission have been totally inadequate to meet these abnormal demands and it is absolutely necessary to raise . : the stun of £SOOO before' the vessel be sent away on the next regular Alt who can are therefore asked to * make a special point of assisting the Church authorities in the task that lies before them.
