MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the local R.S.A. was held on Thursday night last, Mr. A. E. Symos presiding. There was a fair attendance of members. The minutes of the previous meeting wore read and confidined. Several letters of a general nature were read and received. It was decided to notify headquarters that this Association appreciated the proposed land policy, and that the meeting express sympathy with the efforts put forth. A hearty welcome was extended to the newly-elected South African veterans. Mr. J. A. Aiken was elected a m. her of the committee. Several matters of a routine nature were discussed, after which a vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting. ST. STEPHEN’S CHURCH. GIFT SALE. The Gift Sale which was organised by the members of St. Stephen's Church, and held in the Town Hall on Friday afternoon, proved an unqualified success, both socially and financially. The expectations of the organisers were, fully realised in regard to the attendance, and the various stall ami competition holders had a very busy afternoon attending to the needs of the buyers. We understand that as a result of this function the Church will benefit to the extent of a considerable sum. Tiro organisers were well satisfied with the result of their efforts, and appreciate the services of all the helpers, which was so willingly and ungrudgingly given. LAID TO REST. , THE LATE MR. WATKINS. The funeral of the late Mr. Wm. Watkins, who died at Kohl on Thursday last, took place at the Waverley cemetery on Saturday afternoon, ami was largely attended by relatives ami friends. The large number of floral emblems showed, in a groat measure, the esteem in which the deceased was hold by everyone. The Rev. H. Wilson officiated at the graveside in a most impressive manner.
