MUSICAL TREAT IN STORE
One of the most pleasing and highclass entertainments of the kind yet held in Waverley will bo given at the Town Hall on Thursday, £oth inst., when the Lyric Costume Comedy Co. make their appearance. The personnel consists of A. Ripley (first tenor), H. Richards (second tenor), Alan McElwain (first bass), and J. W. Ryan (second bass), supplemented by Miss Jessie Bartlett (con:ratio), Miss Evelyn Harvcv (pianistc and violiniste), and Miss Bettina Eduards (solo danscusc). The quartette arc vocalists of the first rank. Mr. McElwain in addition is a versatile entertainer, his comedy work is ir•tistic and finished and his power .f mimicry makes him a host in himself. Mr. Ryan possesses a resonant and well-modulated voice which he uses with splendid judgment. Mr. Ripley has an evenly registered voice, sweet and natural. Mr. Richards displays roundness and wealth of tone in his singing and knows how to suggest the mood of the song. The ladies of the party arc eminent’y qualified to support the clever quartette.
