There is no panic or anything of that sort, hut we are advised that what is being doin' is the right thing to do. Nothing has happened, but we are not taking any risks. It is felt- that the fact of the steamer lyingin the harbour then', with a few I’ermanent Force men on board, will have a very wholesome effect. “It has become necessary for the New Zealand Government to send the Tutanekai down to Fiji on account of the. strike that is going on then' : but it is simply as a precautionary measure,“ added Mr. Massey, “and I do rot think the members of (he Permanent Force will need to laud.”
