SURPRISE PARTY

A most enjoyable evening was spent at Mr. and Mrs. F. Johnston's residence on Wednesday, when a visit was paid by a number of friends who formed a “ surprise party ’ Among those present were Mcsdanics Dcvcrell, Mcrriman, Bradmorc, Southeombo, Pepper, and Aitken, and Misses Merriman. Butler, Southeombo, Dickie, Cleary (2). Bourke, Muir and Douglas, and a large number of gentlemen. The earlier part of the evening war spent in a very enjoyable progressive euchre tournament, the winners of which were Mrs. Deverill and Mr, Southeombo.. Consolation prizes being won byMiss and Mr. Brad- - more. Songs and music occupied the rest of the evening, a very dainty sup per being afterwards enjoyed, the evening being voted one of the happiest spent for some time.
