Sir Ernest Puthorford, the newlyappointed Cavendish Professor of Experimental Physics at Cambridge, has been elected to a Fellowship at T'.'niity College. He afterwards proceeded to the M.A. degree. At the same congregation lie was admit led to his pro-

fessorship. He has also had conferred upon him at Durham l.'niversily the honorary degree D.Ss.

Among those returning to the Dominion shortly is Lieut.-Col. A. W. Ursen, son of Mr. W. T. Larson, formerly of t'atea, and brother of Mrs. Alt'. Davies of the Central Hotel. Lieut-Col Larson is an old Patoa High School boy and is one of the young New Zealamlers who have earned rapid promotion during the present war.
