THE SILENT TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN

'The Government, which appears to have a mania for altering things at the last moment has decided that in place of a minute, five minutes will be the full time for paying a silent tribute to the memory of those who fell in the G coat War. The Church of England and Fire Brigade bells will ring as al ready arranged at one minute to noon exactly on Saturday, when all traffic, pedestrian and otherwise, will be suspended for the space of five minutes, soldiers standing at attention. At the end of the five minutes the same bells will again ring, notifying that the time has expired.
