WAVERLEY PUBLIC SCHOOL WAR MEMORIAL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the above Committee was held in the Town Board's meeting room at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, the 14th i'nst. Present : Messrs H. Middleton (in the chair), G. M. Beer, P. C. Faris, S. Bromilcy, C. '7l. Southcombe, A. 0. Hemingway, T. W. Wall and the Headmaster (Mr. J. Banks). The Treasurer reported the donations to date were £157 8s (id. The following additional subscriptions have been received since last meeting : J. Walker £l, Owen Hawcs £l, J. McLean 6s, T. Hone £l, Gregor McGregor £2. A. Howie £3, F. H. The following ladies were also present at the invitation of the Committee : Mcsdamcs Banks, Beer, Bromilcy and Hemingway. Mr. C. H. Southcombo and Mr. P. C. Faris apologised for their wives' absence. Mr. P. C. Faris said he had spoken to Miss Mitchell of Patea, who had kindly offered to provide one-half of a programme for a concert and dance to
be held at some future date. He there- " fore moved that a concert and dance be held and that Mr. C. H. Southcombc arrange with the ladies for same. Seconded by Mr. C. H. Southcombc
and carried. Mr. Banks moved that the function be held on Tuesday, the Bth of August, 1919, and that the Secretary arrange for the Hall on that date. Seconded by Mr. Beer and carried.
Mr. Southcombc moved that the Secretary get 250 tickets printed at once and the concert advertised. Concert tickets to be 2s plus tax, the dance to be mentioned on the tickets as extra ; the price to be Is 6d for the dance and to be collected at the Hall. ( The ladies present formed themselves into a committee with power to add to their number and resolved to meet in the Board room on Friday afternoon
next at 3 p.m. Mr. C. H. Southcombc moved that all the ladies now they . are conversant with tho scheme come forward and help to make a success of the concert and dance and that the concert be well advertised. He, suggested that the Headmaster should announce it to the scholars.
Seconded by Mr. Banks and carried. It was resolved that the Committee meet on Tuesday, 29th inst., at 7.30 p.m. and that the ladies be asked to attend.
This concluded the business and the Chairman declared the meeting closed.
