WAVERLEY TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING Tho ordinary meeting of tho WaverIcy Town Board was held in the Board’s meeting room on Thursday night, Mr. E. A. Hart presiding. Messrs D. Taylor, S. Napier, and A. A. Fantham were also present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence Correspondence was read as follows : Consulting Engineer A letter was received from Mr. J. Blair Mason stating that he would bo passing through Waverley early next week and would be pleased to meet the Board and ascertain what they required. The Clerk was instructed to make the necessary arrangements so that members could meet Mr. Mason. Telephone Hours The Chief Postmaster at Wanganui wrote stating that at the request of a large number of subscribers the telephone hours of service would be extended from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Metal Mr. J. Loveday wraotc stating that he had forwarded several trucks of metal, but now, owing to the shortage of coal, the Railway Department notified they would not carry any more metal at present. Balances The Clerk reported the balance was General Account, credit £ll3 lus sd, ami Separate Account £l2 Kis Od. Accounts amounting to £122 6s 9d in the General Account and £3 12s Od in the Separate Account were read and passed for payment. Ratos Mr. D. Taylor moved that a rate of 3.id be struck for the year ; also a special rate for interest purposes of 7gd in the £. Seconded by Mr. Hart and carried. Fockes Street Mr. D. Taylor reported that he and Mr. Napier had inspected Fookes St. There was gorsc growing on the street, hut at the present time it was not in a very bad state. The Committee had instructed the Engineer to put a light into the room for tho Fire Brigade. They had also instructed the surfaceman to clear the lire plugs which were covered up. Overhanging Hedges The Clerk was instructed to give notice to owners to cut hedges which wore overhanging the footpaths. This concluded the business of the Board.
