Undoubtedly the man who, or the party which, can submit a workable scheme for the easing of the great and growing burden of taxation and increased cost of living will absolutely sweep the polls next election. The Efficiency Board, after the most exhaustive investigations, public enquiry and many months’ deliberation, decided that Prohibition immediate and complete, isessential to national efficiency. The Board specifically stated that this conclusion was arrived at “ from the view point of the efficiency of the State and of the individual both during the war and after.” The Board declared, on sworn evidence, that to cut out the whole business, pay compensation and close it right up once and for ever, would be a sound investment and that the cost would be early recouped in the Dominion’s increased efficiency and output.
