Particulars of Me'ssrß Dalgety and Co's Wavealey Sale on Friday next are advertised in this issue. Mr W. H. Watkins, of Kobi, has disposed of part of bis property there, to Mr J. Blennerhassett of Karahaka, at a satisfactory figure. •A farm of 104 aores with new house, oovr shed, etc., three miles from the Waverley Post Office, is advertised for lease in this issue. The enohre party that was to have been held at the Mouldahaki Hall, on Tuesday 14th, and whioh had been postponed owing to bad weather will' take plaoe to-morrow night, A meeting of the Mourn ah aki Horticultural Sooiety will be held on July 29, to oonsider the question of holding the next show at Waverley in place of in the Ngutuwera Hall. Mr E P Symes had the misfortune to cut his hand very b»dly last Friday afternoon, the wound requiring some eight stitches. The trim which usually arrives in Waverley at 1.49 was delayed for nearly an hour on Saturday through the tablet being over carried by the goods train. There is on view in Messrs Muir and Son's window a very pretty cup presented by Mrs A. G. Harvey for the ladies' championship of the Waverley Golf Club. On Friday morning the 11.30 train run into a cow juet as it was entering the station yard. The train waa pulled up very quickly. The only damage done was to the cow which was considerably knocked about. About eight o'clock on Friday -evening the fire bell rang out and brought a good number of people out of doors A. glare in the sky showed the direction of the fire and the report was soon current that it was a well known Settler's homestead but this was soon proved to be untrue and shortly after it was learned that a truck of furniture belonging to Mr Birchall which had just been loaded at the racecourse sidiog had taken fire. The driver of the goods train going north noticed the fire and sounded the «.iarui by continuous whistling of fcae engine, when they reached the statiou an attempt was made to get some of the goods off but there was not any water available and nothing could be done, almo&t everything being destroyed. The truck in which it was loaded was also badly damaged. We understand that the insurance for transit had not been taken out and Mr Birchall will therefore be a very heavy loser by the fire.
