(From Our Own Correspondent). Tennis Club. A meeting of the Tennis Club was held on Wednesdiy last, when the question of laying down another court was discussed at length. It was finally decided by 10 votes to three" that the proposal for the extra court ba adopted. The Tennis Social will be held on Friday next, 10th inst, when the trophies won in the ladder competition will be The Committee are working •strenuous l y ti make the function a memorable one for tbe district The Club’s men’s championship was won by Mr Neilson by one stroke, after a keen contest with Mr Worsley, School. The School Committee held another working bee on Monday, when a second coal of tar was placed on the school tennis courts The children are now looking forward t) the opening of the court which will take place shoitly. NOTES. The Alton Dairy Coy have just installed a new 30 horse power multi tubular Murray boiler. The new manager has now taken up his duties. The settlers from the back country have decided to meet a telephone for about 20 miles out. This will undoubtedly prove a great convenience to those at a distance from tbe store and post office.
