By Our liesidmt Heprescntative. QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S OWN. S Squadron Ball. For many years this popular ball has been the g ealost event of the year ami that held last Friday night upheld the reputation. Over 300 persons wore present from all parts of the district. The whole of the arrangements were so well made that everything went off without a hitch of any kind and the energetic secretary Mr A E Blake must be hears ily congratulated on the great success of his efforts. The hall was prettily decorated with ferns and evergreens and the handsome dresses worn by the ladies, and the smart uniforms of Ibe men presented a most brilliant scene when the dencing was in progress, The music supplied, by Messrs Brown (piano), Murray (violin), ai.d Truwnson (clarionet), was nr st sat^factory. The ladies’ committee who assisted with the supper were Mesdames E, P. Symes, W. Dickie, A. Y, Merriman, D. B McDonald, G Miller, Misses Blake, Best (2), Elmslie, McMcekin, Symes and Merriman.

Extras wore played by t'io following: —Misses Macfarlane, L Best, Allis, G Dickie, A Best, Carey, G Salter, Mrs Morrison, and Mr F Wooding,

During the evening a very pleasing event took place Capt, Elmslie presenting Col. Davis with a subs'initial cheque on bshulf of tho members of the troop. Cipfc Kltnslio in making tbe presentation said the men were all quite satisfied that there never was a Colonel like Col. Davis before and there never would be again. They wished him lung life and prosperity ia the future. (Applause). Col. Davis in reply said bo thanked Capt, Efiualie and the m n for their very kind expression of nppionation of his services.
