PATEA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Special Meeting. A special meeting of the Patea School Committee was held in the Technical School on Wednesday night, Mr J. H. Johnston presiding. Messrs Jones, GHenny, Hemingway, Armotf and Kobbie (Headmaster) were also piesent. The Chairman explained that it would.be necessary to bold one or more socials during the winter months in to rai.e the necessary funds for the maintenance of the school as the capitation on the present basis was quite inadequate. He would move that a social bo held at an easly d i e. The resolution was seconded by Mr Hemingway and carried. It was also resolued on the motion of the Chairman that the public be invited to subscribe towards a sum of £2.5 that Was inquired to levo* and put the grounds in order. The actual cot t wouiu be about £6O, but £25 would be j loithcomiog from the Education | iLpaitu.ent. j Altei a niitf di.-cusuioa it was I decided to hold the dance on Friday July 10ib, j lc was decided to invite the ladies to 1 meet in t ne Technical School on Tuesday next at 3 p.m. to make airaugemcnts fur supper, etc. It was decided that the charge for admission to the dance be 2s for gentlemen and for ladies Is and a basket.
