KOHI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Dance. A successful dance in aid of the school funds eventuated in the Kohi Hall on Wednesday night. Fully 30 couples graced the floor, nna visitors from Waverley and Whenuakura were noticeable. The bad condition of the roads no doubt prevented many more from making tho trip. Mr W. H. Watkins was master of the cere--monies. Building Development. Some time ago I predicted greatly increased building development in the district, consequent on the subdivision of the Bremor estate. My prophecy is now justified. The carpenters have started work on Mr Powell’s now residence, and building operations on Mr Coleman’s section are to follow: It is to be hoped that this activity will continue for an indefinite period. Rumours, Rumours that several properties in the district have changed hands are in circulation, but, as far as I can ga'hsr there is no foundation for them. Bad Roads. The Kohi road is bad—in fact a healthy imagination fails to see it a degree more difficult and dangerous; A cyclist who found his way out here the other day was hardly recognisable, so slimy and treacherous did tho highway proyo. It badly needs attention. Football. Kohi boasts of someanighty warriors of the football field as lively and as enthusiastic bs a windmill on a blowy day. Although they are separated from each other by miles of wearisome journey, yet nevertheless they hold half-way meetings and practice assiduously. The other day, they may have been observed, practising passing rushes up and down the paddock with an refitted sheep bladder. I think it’s up to the Club to provide them with a proper football. The Fever; The scarlet fever has visited us, two families are “ down ” with it and so, unhappily, is tho school. The Health Inspector was out on Wednesday, We ell hope the epidemic will not seriously develop. The school will be closed for a fortnight.
