Patca v. Waverley. The return match between the Pate and Waverley Clubs for the Cooper Cu was played at Waverley on Wednesdaj and resulted in a somewhat easy wiu fo th« Waverley club by 56 runs. The da was anything but favourable for erickel incessant rain falling throughou Waverley's innings. Patea were uc fortunate in losing the toss and bavins t field in the rain. Bradley and Parke opened Waverley's innings, and a', one commenced to hit out freely, the bowlinj not seeming to trouble them in th slightest. Parker was the first to go being' dismissed by a good ball fron Speight. Daniell, who filled thi vacancy, played sound cricket and tool no risks whatever, scoring freely of the loose balls. Bradley, who had beei playing well iu spite of a badly damage< finger, assisted Daniell to take the edg: Off the bowling before »eing bowled b} N Speight. Symes and Hedditch hit oul freely, the latter Making 19 before getting his leg in front to a ball from Tinney The innings was then declared closed Daniell carrying out his bat for 23. For Patea, Tinney as usual proved himself a tower of strength, making 2£ by vigorous hitting. None of the other players succeeded in reaching double .figures. The following are the scores : Wayealey.
