A Warning.
In view’ of the loss of life that has been caused through fires during tho past few months, not only in tho Dominion, but in other parts of the world aa well, cify councils and local authorities are taking steps lo have reports presented to thorn on tho facilities fur escape provided in case of tiro in all two storied buildings. It would he aa well, perhaps, if tho Borough Council were to have a similar report prepared with regard to such buildings in this town. It is always hotter to bo sure than sorry, and when one takes into consideration the absence of a high pressure water supply, the need for such a report as we have mentioned becomes at once apparent. If the necessary escapes are not already installed, then the sooner proper and effective ones aro provided tho better. If, on the other hand they aro adequate, then no harm will have been done, and tho Council will be able to rest secure in in the knowledge that it ims done all ihat was necessary to relievo itself of the responsibility placed on its shoulders by the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act 1908,
