Mr T. K. MacDonald has resigned his seat on the Legislative Council. Mr W. A. Black, solicitor, son of a former proprietor of the “ Press,” Las commenced the practice of his profession in Auckland.
Tho Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister for Education, has telegraphed to the Mayor of Stratford as follows’. “Thanks for invitation to visit Stratford. I should be most happy to do so but my public arrangements at p-esant prevent me from fixiag any definite dele. I shall communicate with yon again as soon us I see a prospect of accepting your kind invitation, —G’O. Fowlds.” Mr Ad. Hewitt, of tho chief engineer’s office N Z.E., is at present in Patea on his way round tho New Zealand lines obtaining engineering information about the various railway brilges for his Department. Before leaving Wellington Mr A. Hovvitt was approached with a view to his executing the illuminated address from the women of N.Z. to Queen Mary, but owing to bis departure he had to decline the offer.
