A VESSEL ASHORE.

Just after getting over the bar at Wanganui on Monday evening, the locally owned barquentine Alexa ran ashore at the entrance of the river, owing it is said, to a strong westerly set. She is laden with hardwood and coal, and now lies alongside the mole, some of which was damaged by the vessel as she Bwung broadside on to it, She is apparently uninjured, and it is expected that she will be floated off again on the approaching spring tides.
