The Standard’s Tangier correspondent reports that the British Government agreed to p„y Eaisuli £20,000 to secure the release of Kaid Maclean and his imprisoned friends, and afford Eaisuli and the immediate members family, protection for their past misdeeds ; £SOOO to be paid immediately Maclean is released and the balance invested ; three years’ income to bo paid Eaisuli. Several thousand Benishassen tribesmen and the members of two other tribes crossed the Algerian frontier and attacked Babelassa. The French at first were compelled to retire, but, when reinforced, they regained Babelassa, and drove the Moroccans over the frontier. For a time the French were in a tight corner. Eleven Tirailleurs and an officer were killed and a number wounded. The fight lasted six hours.
