Pollock for a transfer of the license of the Commercial Hotel, Stratford, to Julia Pitch was adjourned until Friday. The police reported unfavorably on the conduct of the Whangamomona Hotel, alleging increase of drunkenness. The Bench considered the constable should have been present to substantiate the charges. The licensee denied the statements, and the Committee decided the matter must drop. The Chairman intimated that the Committee expected the licensees of the various hotels to carry out the recommendations of tho Health Inspector by the March meeting, If they were not effected the Committee would have something to say. Mr King regretted that Mr Monkhouse was resigning his seat, and eulogised the useful work done by him. Ho moved that the committee place on record their appreciation of his services. Mr Brewer in seconding the motion said tho Committee were losing a valuable and most useful member. The Chairman and Mr Taylor endorsed tho previous speaker’s remark*. The resolution was put and carried,

Mr Monkhouse thanked the members for their kind expressions and in bidding farewell he would like to express his thanks to the other members for the courtesy he had invariably received.
