THE ’FRYSCO MAIL.
The 'Frisco mail service regulations, laid on the table of the House of Representatives yesterday, on the Premier’s motion, authorised the extension of the contract for three years from November 10, 1906, on the following conditions: (1) Payments shall hot be lass than £15,000 per annum, nor more than £20,000; (2) that the Postmaster General be authorised to negotiate for all payments by the Commonwealth of Australia to the service to be paid over to this colony, in which case the maximum to contractors may be increased to £25,000; (3) that a better class of steamers be placed in the service within two years, otherwise the contract may be determined at six months’ notice.
The motion also provides that the Postmaster-General bo empowered to establish three-weekly services with Vancouver: (1) For three years; (2) payment not to exceed £20,000 per annum; (3) vessels of less than 6000 tons engaged to have cold storage: (4) 18 day passage, port of call at the option of contractor; (5) terms and conditions as far as can be applied to be limited to those governing the ’Frisco service.
