In 1971 it was estimated by Court workers employed by Nga Tamatoa that a Maori was four times more likely than a pakeha to be charged with a criminal offence and eight times more likely to be found guilty. Latest figures show this has hardly changed. Mana will look at some of the reasons in the next issue.
