Neighbourhood Law Office Opens

lhe Neighbourhood Law Office is now open for service fom 9am - spm. The premises are situated on the corner of Richmond Road & Hakanoa Street, Grey Lynn, phone 769-085. PO Box 78-045. The function of this office will be to provide legal advice and representation for clients in the Grey Lynn area, but the service could extend to encompass surrounding districts of Ponsonby, Westmere, Freemans Bay, & Herne Bay, if pressure of work so allows. Full-time salaried staff, who will work together as a team, include Solicitor - John Mahiti Wilson and Community worker - Ms Vapi Kupenga.

Robert Ludbrook will also assist as second Solicitor. Clients are expected to make an initial payment of $3 to go towards legal expenses, but if they are inclined to make a larger contribution because of the complexity of the matter handled by the N.L.0., then they are free to do so. This is a pilot scheme, the aim of which is to meet the legal needs of the people, by going out into their own community, and for this reason it is necessary to restrict the work of the Neighbourhood Law Office to Grey Lynn and the surrounding districts mentioned above.
