No te 23 o Nowema, 1883, ka tae mai nga waea whakaatu i te hinganga o nga hoia o te Kingi o Ihipa ki Hourana (Soudan) i Awherika. Oti te whakatakoto nga matua o te taua, ka kokiri nga whakaka, nohoia mai ana e tera, te rerenga-rukaruka-tanga o te tangata-whenua, ehara! ka taea te mareherehe o te taua ra. Na, ka haere nui te kekeritanga kanakana noa nga kanohi o etahi, ka riri i tana riri, hinga atu takahi atu, tetahi, tetahi, po noa, rua noa, toru noa, nga ra e kakawe ana, unu rawa ake rapea te ope-hoia, me unu ki hea, me takiri ki hea ? Takoto rawa iho kite moenga e rima mano ote taua—nga hoia Ihipiana, kotahi tonu hoia o te ope ra i rere.
