I keep hearing of his annoying my elders, and this is the thing which upsets me. I also saw him attacking Wiremu Kawaho. Then later he attacked Heia Poharama. And after that he continued being a pest. So this is why I say that such attacks on that settlement by that Pakeha should cease. I feel deeply for my elders who are constantly being annoyed by him. You can make a decision about this trouble, that he be stopped on account of his failure of payment, for one aspect of his bad behaviour is a failure to pay. It is not right that that Pakeha, and the many Pakeha who act like that, continue to work there. He is very much in the wrong, and for this I am very upset. Don't leave alone those small things that cause people trouble but stop them at once. And the Pakeha who persist in stealing the trees outside the boundary, I hear the people are troubled over Pakeha doing that. If the Governor came here, it could be arranged to stop these disturbances and put them right. That is all. From me, from your loving son, Wiremu Kingi Kawaho
E kore au e pai kia whakararurarua tonutia oku matua e tena Pakeha. E rongo tonu ana au ki tana mahi tutu ki oku matua, ko te mea tenei i pouri ai toku whakaaro. I kite ano ahau i tana patunga a Wiremu Kawaho. Muri iho ka patua ano e ia a Heia Poharama. Mutu iho i tena ka tutu tonu ia. Koia au ka mea me whakamutu te patu wera a tena Pakeha i tera kainga. Ka mate au i pouri ki oku matua e whakararurarua tonutia ana e tena Pakeha. Kei a koe te whakaaro mo tenei raruraru, kia whakamutua mo tana utu he, tetahi wahi he o tona mahi he utu he. E kore e pai tena Pakeha, me te tini Pakeha patu wera kia mahi tonu i reira. Nui rawa te he, no konei ahau i pouri ai. Kei waiho ena mea nohinohi hei whakararuraru mo nga tangata, engari ano kia mutu rawa. Me nga Pakeha hoki e tohe ana ki te tahae i nga rakau o waho o te rohe. E rongo ana au e raruraru ana nga tangata mo tena mahi a nga Pakeha. Ki te mea ka tae atu a Kawana ki kona, whakaritea kia hohoro te mutu . . . [illegible] [wha]kararuraru kia tika. Heoi ano. Naku, na tou tamaiti aroha, na Wiremu Kingi Kawaho
