From Pahawa 29 November 1848 To Kemp Sir, Greetings to you. This is what I have to say to you. I agree with your and the Governor's plan. Now, listen, I am going to go and see you and Bell, so I can talk to you. Should I be delayed, wait patiently until I and the people of this settlement arrive to see you, so we can talk to you about Wairarapa, about giving it over to you, because that land is ours alone. That was why I said that when I get there the people of Wairarapa should meet, so we can speak and explain about our lands of Wairarapa, to arrange them to be given over to the Governor.
