12 December 1848 To Kemp Sir, Listen, we have arrived at Wairarapa to talk about the land for you and the Governor. However, our discussion is only about Wairarapa; our land we are leaving quietly aside. We do not agree to bring in the giving over of our land with that of Wairarapa, but rather the boundary for it should be exactly as the Maori told you.
