Waihinga 5 October 1853 To McLean Sir, Here is another piece of land of ours to be given to you, that is, land that has been carefully and peacefully discussed amongst us, the Maori; and it is for each person to his part to you. These are the boundaries for that land: From Karearea running on to Tauriohineoi, and on to Te Wareotekina, Te Paewai, Turimoho and Te Papakaahikarara, coming out at Wakahauwahine, and going on out to Te Kairereateaua, and on to Pukemapou, Te Ahioteake, coming out at Manupopokirua, then going on to Te Hiwera, out to Te Wairere, and on to Te Pukuotautokonga, then on to Haowenua, and out to Te Paehinau, then running on to Te Rakaiatehoumingi, and coming out at the river at Te Waretotara, then heading to the Te Kapekape side, it extends along the ridge of Motukaitutae, runs on to Te Paraahikaturama, Te Wakamarumaruomaea, and Taumata-o-Hikarahui, and emerging at Te Kapokapo, it runs on to Tinohi, coming out at Kohangakarearea, at the start again.
