Ngamotu 10 March 1853 Friend, McLean, I, Mihi Peka Rangiparea, am a sister to Tungia. Purapuratukou is the boundary and it goes directly inland to the end of Ta Kerei's boundary. Suffice this boundary. There are Awhaki, Petone, Wharetutai, Karakariki, Paparahia, Te Papaiatai, Te Puipui, Whaikaretu, Whaiotama, and on to Waikawhau, those [mark] the boundary of my area. This area of mine at Waikawau is new, and it ends at the water. Te Waiaua is the boundary and it goes out to the end of the inland boundary of the area of Ta Kerei. Te Puipui, that's Ta Kerei's area, Whaikawau is mine. Karotopuhi[?] and all the people have agreed; it's been discussed by all the people to the south that I too can take from Ta Kerei's [payments] and that I can enter in through my aunts, through Hakahaka, Ta Kerei's wife. Listen, Ta Kerei came here, he came to me. And this is what he said, he said what I am saying to you, 'If you go north [?], then you should think about the people there, and be determined to defeat [?] them.' That's what he said to me. Well I have my own ideas about what he said, and I have my own suggestion about the payments for here and about Ta Kerei's statement.
