Kaipara 29 July /67 My dear Sir, I have not forgotten the arrangement made between us when you were in Auckland last, and immediately on my return from the Thames I saw Fenton who found I was determined to go to Napier and he graciously said "why not go down the next court and get your passage and expenses paid." I said at once that would suit me quite. So you will find me down there soon after you return from the Assembly. I met with a bad accident a few days ago, rather in the night going home. The horse fell in the road over a heap of stones which was negligently left in the road and I fell on my right shoulder. But you see I can write a little yet. I have not yet seen anything that has taken place in the assembly. I have got a beautiful writing desk made for you choice mottled kauri I do not think it necessary to ask Mr. Richmond for leave now. I found some gold at Kauaeranga. Pollen has gone down to see if it can be had in payable quantities. Hoping you are well and as usual hearty. All well at Mount Albert. Yours ever J. Rogan D. McLean, Esq. M. H. R. Wn.
