17th. November 1872. My dear Sir, I called at the Telegraph Office at 5 o'clock to-day (Sunday), and received several telegrams for you, but did not despatch the orderly with them, as Mr. Clarke was telegraphing at the time. The orderly will start at 5 o'clock in the morning. I thought it unnecessary to send him to-night, as it would be 11 o'clock before he reached Maraekakaho, and by starting early in the morning no time would be lost. I shall leave town at 11 or 12 at latest. I have found the papers you were asking for, and will bring them up with me. The "Luna" is at Tauranga to-day. I have not heard of any news in town excepting the stranding of the "City of Newcastle", the particulars of which I have no doubt have been communicated to you. I remain Yours very truly (Signed) W.K. McLean. To:- Donald McLean Esq.
