Wellington 26th November 1845 My dear Sir I duly received your letter of the 9th ulto. with its enclosures and beg you to accept my sincere thanks for your kindness in taking so much trouble - Mr. King some time since informed me of the renewed alarm at Wanganui occasioned by the report of another "Taua" from Taupo but his subsequent letters state that it had ceased it being ascertained that there was no foundation for the rumour, nor was I at all apprehensive that Settlement would again be visited by another after Te Heuheu's failure of last year - Mr. Taylor's visit and yours however to that influential Chief in these distracted times cannot fail to be productive of great good and I feel greatly indebted for your taking this trouble - I need not add how happy I should be to hear from you after your visit. Believe me, My dear Sir, Very sincerely yours M. Richmond
