Hick's Bay, 3rd Sept. H. M. S. Brisk. My dear Mr. McLean, I arrived here yesterday at 4 P.M. and the Huntress arrived safely 4 hours afterwards. There are no signs yet of the expedition and I fully expect to have to wait some days. I am going to give the Huntress 10 Tons of Coal and our sailmakers will finish her sails in a day or two. The Master tells me that she does not steam more than 5 or 6 knots, but she will answer our purpose very well at Opotiki. Will you kindly forward the enclosed to the Governor and believe me, Yours very truly, Charles W.F. Hope.
