Monday June 28th. 1851. My dear McLean, You may well say, in your note of the 9th. inst. that I am known as a bad correspondent - indeed, a most neglectful one, - but it is only To:- D. And now, referring to your enquiries - the Governor's project of issuing Scrip to the unsatisfied holders of land, under the New Zealand Company, has rendered me less desirious of selling the Crown sections in Pihi, inasmuch as it will be in my power to exchange them for others here, which it was always my wish to do:- Nevertheless, I would sell them for a "consideration". Campbell got £20 for one of his; not, if I judge rightly, so well situated as mine. Whether that be the present market value of each, I am, of course, wholly ignorant, my opinion being formed merely from what I hear of the improving property of the Town. Mrs. Delfoule, Mrs. Humphreys are gems, and improve our parties wonderfully. Humphreys has purchased Newland's place, and is adding rooms. My time to close is come. Workmen want overlooking.
